A Front Row Seat to Folk Art: IFAM Passport Travels to France

What happens when you bring together folk art lovers, master artisans, and the timeless beauty of French markets? The answer is simple: magic!

“It was so meaningful to travel with people who are deeply inspired by folk art,” said Alli Wheeler, IFAM Volunteer Manager and trip participant. “We weren’t just tourists. We were part of something.”

Led by IFAM, the Passport experience took travelers behind the scenes of bustling markets and quiet, tucked-away studios — places that don’t usually open their doors to visitors. From watching clay take form on a pottery wheel to practicing language skills with vendors, every moment was a celebration of creativity and connection!

“We shared the story of IFAM with the artists we met,” said Alli. “It felt like we were building bridges — introducing our global artist family to new corners of the world.”

And it wasn’t just about the art. It was the scent of spices, the patina of worn wood, the sound of markets buzzing with life. These are the things that stay with you long after you’ve returned home — memories not just made, but felt!
