Station 1: Make & Take: Create Your Own Wire Sculpture

Make & Take with the Museum of International Folk Art: Be inspired by the creative expressions of South African telephone wire weavers. Come create your own Wire Sculpture. Hands-on experience led by the Museum of International Folk Art Education Team. MOIFA shapes a humane world by connecting people through creative expression and artistic traditions.

Station 1: Handbuilding with take-home sculptural clay 

Learn different hand building methods with clay from sculpting to coiling to slab-building.  

Station 2: Wheel throwing 

Try your hand at the pottery wheel and learn some techniques to shape clay into round ceramic ware.  Use the wheel to spin clay to create other forms you come up with too.

Station 1: Indigo Dye Exploration

Explore the art of indigo dyeing using a variety of surface resist dyeing techniques on cut pieces of cotton fabric. Watch as your fabric transforms from white, to verdant green, and then to deep indigo blue as it oxidizes.

Station 2: Flower Pounding Botanical Printing

Use a pounding technique to extract pigments from seasonal flowers and plants that are native to New Mexico, and then print their impressions onto mordanted cotton fabric. In this communal activity, participants will experience the joy of botanical printing by adding natural colors and floral patterns to a large, collaborative “Global Fiber Art Map”.

Explore the tactile process of transforming sheep’s wool roving into thread and fabric. Learn the basics of spinning thread and create your fiber blend using a selection of natural and dyed Churro wool.

Textile Center Station 2: Needle Felting Social

Experience the magic of needle felting by learning how to turn fuzzy wool fiber into fabric through friction. Participants will be invited to create colorful forms, figures, and patterns out of felt, which can be added to the collaborative “Global Fiber Art Map” that was started during the Flower Pounded Botanical Printing activity.

Market Entrance

The IFAM General Entrance is located on the corner of Guadalupe and Paseo De Paralta Streets, and our ADA/VIP-only entrance is located on the Santa Fe Rail Trail behind SITE Santa Fe.

Getting to Market

IFAM encourages traveling “lightly” to the Market! Consider the Santa Fe Trails bus system, Rail Runner train, Santa Fe Rail Trail, IFAM’s Bike Valet, metered street parking, or nearby municipal lots. If you choose to drive, allow extra time for parking!

Ride Your Bike:

Our venue at Railyard Park is located right next to the Santa Fe Rail Trail, this is an extensive 15-mile trail that ends right at the Santa Fe Depot Station. Once you get to Market, you can check your bike in at our FREE Volunteer-run Bike Valet on Saturday and Sunday. The Bike Valet will be stationed on Paseo de Peralta near the former Warehouse 21 building. Explore the Rail Trail Map here.

Shuttles:

There are two shuttles that will be operating to Market! These are free to use. ROUTES BEGIN ONE HOUR BEFORE THE MARKET AND END ONE HOUR AFTER.

ADA Shuttles: Our ADA-compliant shuttles will run continuously from Wednesday through Sunday.

  • Pick-up location: South Capitol Rail Runner Station (1301 Alta Vista  St.)

  • Parking: Available at the nearby Runnels Building parking lot.

  • Drop-off: Near the former Warehouse 21 building, just steps from our ADA entrance.

Rideshare Services:

If you choose to utilize rideshare services like (Lyft, Uber, etc.) or a hotel shuttle, you will be dropped off at our designated rideshare location at 1625 Paseo de Peralta (formerly Alvord Elementary).

Scooter Rentals:

You can arrange a rental ahead of time through our partner, Preferred Medical. To reserve, Contact Ray Maez at (505) 820-7766.

Where do I park?

IFAM takes place in the heart of Santa Fe’s Railyard District, with nearly 900 parking spaces within easy walking distance of the Market.

We're also proud to champion sustainability!
Combo tickets are available for Rail Runner + IFAM, making it easy to park at any Rail Runner station and ride directly into the Railyard–footsteps from the Market.

ADA Parking: If you have a disability placard, you'll find designated ADA parking spaces along the northwest side of Camino de la Familia, near the intersection with Paseo de Peralta.

Walking:

Railyard Park is incredibly accessible if you are staying in the downtown area. If you need a location to plug into your map app use 740 Cerrillos Rd. Santa Fe, NM 87505

Respecting the Community:

Please adhere to City rules and respect the surrounding neighborhoods. Do not park in areas marked with “no parking” signs or where residential permits are required. You may be towed at your own expense.

Road Closures:

During Market hours, Paseo de Peralta will be closed between the intersections of S. Guadalupe St. and Camino de la Familia.

Our Market venue, the 11-acre Railyard Park, is a unique urban green space developed through community input and dedicated to sustainability, cultural enrichment, and open gathering. Governed by a conservation easement, it will remain a community space for generations.

The Railyard Park Conservancy (RPC) manages educational programs, public art, and conservation efforts like the Healthy Soils Campaign. Each year, RPC mobilizes thousands of volunteer hours to maintain the Park’s vibrant, drought-tolerant landscape.

What does timed entry mean?

  • Timed entry means you select a specific entry time when purchasing your ticket. Once inside, you’re welcome to stay and shop, eat, dance, and enjoy the Market until we close for the day.

    Note: On Saturday, the Market closes briefly before reopening for Night Market. Night Market is a special evening event and requires a separate ticket.

Can I bring my dog?

  • While the IFAM staff is an unrepentant group of dog lovers, we ask that you leave your furry companions at home unless they are licensed service animals.

§  NOTE: Please do not leave your dog in a hot car. Folks will be monitoring parking lots and will NOT HESITATE break car windows to preserve the safety of animals.

  • Within the IFAM footprint, we will continue to offer our Volunteer-run Art Valet tent. Here, you can drop off your purchases during the Market so you can shop without carrying your bag. You must pick up your items before the Market closes.

How do I get tickets to Thursday’s Opening Night Celebration?

  • Our supporters of $1,000 and above are invited to the Opening Night Celebration on Thursday, July 10 from 6 to 9pm in Railyard Park. This is the first opportunity to explore and shop the Market before it opens to the public. You are invited to enjoy an evening with smaller crowds, cooler temperatures, complimentary food, drinks, and live music. Make a gift online, or call our Advancement Office at 505-992-7608.
