Film Screening of “Handmade Future” at IFAM 2026

We are proud to host a special screening of the award-winning documentary Handmade Future during IFAM 2026, Insider Talks. The film follows artisans in six countries who are protecting cultural heritage, confronting complex intermediaries, and advancing responsible trade—pushing back against fast, cheap production to restore a frayed world through beauty and human connection quietly.

At the heart of the film are the stories of makers whose work reflects the resilience, creativity, and cultural knowledge that define folk art traditions around the world. Highlighted in the documentary are IFAM 2026 participating artisans, Hadithi Crafts of Kenya, whose work demonstrates the transformative impact of artisan enterprise and community-centered craft traditions.

Karen Gibbs, IFAM Board Member and longtime advocate for artisan communities, is featured in the film. Through her work supporting collaboration and sustainable opportunities for artisans, Karen’s perspective in the film highlights the importance of preserving cultural traditions while creating meaningful economic impact through handmade art.

Handmade Future is the first feature film production from ARTIST & NOMAD, led by founders Kirsten and Brandon Dickerson. Their partnership as filmmakers brings together creative storytelling and visionary leadership, shaped by decades of work in film and social impact initiatives involving artisans and communities living on the margins of the global economy. The documentary marks Kirsten Dickerson’s directorial debut, with Brandon Dickerson serving as co-producer and cinematographer.
