Helena Ribe Appointed as IFAM’s New Board Chair: A Vision for the Future
The International Folk Art Market (IFAM) is excited to announce Helena Ribe as our new Board Chair!
With a lifelong passion for global economic development and cultural preservation, Helena’s leadership marks an inspiring new chapter for IFAM as we continue our mission to uplift folk artists worldwide.
A Global Leader with a Heart for Folk Art
Helena Ribe brings decades of experience in poverty reduction, social impact, and economic empowerment from her distinguished career at the World Bank. Born in Colombia and now a U.S. citizen, Helena’s international perspective aligns with IFAM’s vision of creating sustainable opportunities for folk artists while preserving traditional art forms.
“I am very excited about IFAM,” says Ribe. “We are an organization that has grown and transformed since our beginnings over 20 years ago. We have evolved to meet the artists and folk art at this time in history. I am honored to be the board chair and to lead alongside my fellow board members, Executive Director Stacey Edgar, and our dedicated staff.”
Continuing IFAM’s Mission & Expanding Our Reach
Under Helena’s leadership, IFAM will continue to:
Empower folk artists through economic opportunities and global exposure
Expand our impact by engaging new partners and supporters
Celebrate cultural heritage while innovating new ways to connect artists with collectors and admirers worldwide
She will be joined by five newly elected board members—Peggy Burns, Karen Gibbs, Felicia Morrow, Dr. Patrick Samora, and Chris Julsrud—each bringing diverse expertise and passion for supporting folk art and its makers.
