Santa Fe City of Crafts and Folk Art 20th Anniversary

UNESCO Creative City 20th Anniversary Booth

Celebrating Santa Fe’s Legacy of Folk Art and Family Traditions

In 2005, Santa Fe made history as the first U.S. city to be designated a UNESCO Creative City, honored for its diverse heritage in Crafts and Folk Art . Two decades later, we commemorate this milestone at IFAM 2025 with a special exhibition spotlighting four multigenerational artist families from Northern New Mexico in the Rooted in Generations neighborhood!

Each family embodies the enduring spirit of Santa Fe's creative community, preserving and evolving traditional art forms passed down through generations. From intricate weaving and pottery to jewelry and sculpture, their works reflect a deep connection to culture, place, and family.

Explore their stories below and discover how these artists continue to enrich Santa Fe's legacy as a global center for folk art.
