Albuquerque Airport Greeters welcome artists at the Albuquerque Sunport in early July. They help collect luggage, ensure that the artists have encountered no problems, then assist them in getting to the correct shuttle to Santa Fe.
Schedule Notes: Artists begin arriving into Albuquerque up to two weeks before the Market, with the bulk of arrivals happening on the Monday and Tuesday of Market Week. We ask you to indicate your availability on those dates, in 4-hour shifts, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at midnight. Once we have flight information for all arriving artists, we will do our best to match your stated availability with artist flights. Please note that flights may be delayed or changed, so please be flexible. Because shifts are completed prior to the beginning of Market, you may opt to volunteer an additional shift during Market. Team Notes: All shifts for this team take place at the ABQ Sunport. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to the Sunport. IFAM will endeavor to secure free parking nearby for volunteers.
Ambiance Décor volunteers turn Museum Hill into a colorful, bustling global marketplace starting 2-3 days before Market. Schedule Notes: The bulk of the work takes place in late June and early July and extends a few days past Market with décor teardown and storage. There are a few limited shifts during the Market, which allow team members to volunteer in other areas or to attend Market events. Signing up for multiple days and for full-day shifts is extremely helpful because of the training involved, but shorter shifts and commitments are also available. Team Notes: This team works outdoors a great deal, and décor tasks may involve lifting up to 10 pounds, using a stepladder, and bending down and/or reaching overhead.
We are looking for a Volunteer Chair and volunteers for the Art Valet Team.
At this year’s Market, guests will have the opportunity to ‘coat check’ their purchases during their time at the event. This gives guests who have made heavy purchases, or who have just made a lot of purchases, the chance to safely stash their items until they are getting ready to leave. Volunteers on the Art Valet team will help to give itemized tickets to guests and will assist with safely storing their items until they come back to gather them before they leave the Market.
Artist Lunches – These volunteers deliver lunches to artists during set-up on Wednesday and during Market on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Team Notes: Tasks for this team may include maneuvering through busy booths to reach artists and deliver their boxed lunches.
Bike Valet volunteers check in and watch over bicycles belonging to guests who have pedaled to the event, returning the bike when the owner comes to pick it up. Scheduling note: This team volunteers on Thursday through Sunday.
